    Part 1

    Technical foundations

Fix these before writing a single new page.

    • Site is indexable: no stray noindex, no robots.txt blocking key sections
    • One canonical version of the domain (https, single www choice)
    • Every important page returns 200 and is reachable in three clicks
    • Sitemap is current, submitted, and free of redirects and 404s
    • Core Web Vitals pass on mobile for the heaviest gallery page
    • Structured data is valid with no errors reported in Search Console
    Part 2

    On-page targeting

One page, one search intent, in the language buyers actually use.

    • Each page targets a distinct query, with no two pages competing
    • Titles under about 60 characters lead with the target term
    • Meta descriptions are unique and written to earn the click
    • One H1 per page, headings describing real sections
    • Body copy answers the query in the first screen, not after a hero video
    • Internal links use descriptive anchors, not "click here"
    Part 3

    Local & map presence

Marina, yard and school searches are overwhelmingly local.

    • Google Business Profile is claimed, categorised and complete
    • Name, address, phone and hours match the website exactly
    • A dedicated page exists for each physical location or berth area
    • Location pages carry directions, coordinates, VHF or approach detail where relevant
    • Reviews are being requested consistently and answered
    • LocalBusiness or Marina structured data is present and valid
    Part 4

    Content coverage

Map pages to the way marine buyers search: place, boat, service, season.

    • A page exists for every core service you want to be found for
    • Destination and cruising-area pages capture research-stage searches
    • Boat-type or berth-size pages match how enquiries are phrased
    • Seasonal pages (haul-out, winter storage, regatta season) are published before demand
    • FAQ content answers pre-enquiry questions in text, not only in a brochure
    • Thin or duplicate legacy pages are consolidated or redirected
    Part 5

    Measurement

Rankings are not the outcome — enquiries are.

    • Search Console and analytics are both connected and reporting
    • Enquiry, call and booking events are tracked as conversions
    • Organic enquiries are reported monthly against a baseline
    • Top queries and pages are reviewed for cannibalisation each month
    • A named owner reviews the report and decides the next month's fixes

    How to read your score

    • Work top to bottom: technical fails invalidate everything below them.
    • Any fail in Measurement means you cannot prove the rest worked — fix it first regardless of score.
